Airline Reward Programs

Global Frequent Traveller Programs - Ascenda

  1. The redemption of CommBank Awards points for global frequent traveller program points or miles is processed by Ascenda, who provide this service to us.
  2. If you redeem Awards points for frequent traveller program points or miles via the Awards website or the CommBank Awards call centre, we'll give Ascenda your name and frequent traveller membership number so they can process your request. Please note that Ascenda and some of the frequent traveller program partners are based overseas. For more information about how Ascenda manages your personal information, you can view their Privacy Policy via this link.
  3. You need to be a member of the relevant frequent traveller program to redeem CommBank Awards points for frequent traveller points or miles through Ascenda. Fees may apply. The redemption of frequent traveller points or miles and membership of the frequent traveller programs offered by Ascenda's frequent traveller partners is subject to the terms and conditions of the relevant frequent traveller program.
  4. Transfer of points to the following frequent traveller programs is subject to their additional terms and conditions which can be found on these website pages:
    • EVA Air Infinity MileageLands
    • Air France and KLM Flying Blue
    • United Airlines MileagePlus
  5. Transfer of Awards points must be in increments that convert to whole frequent traveller point values. Most points transfer requests are processed within 3 business days, but it may take up to 15 business days depending on the relevant frequent traveller program.
  6. Frequent traveller member details (for example, name or frequent traveller membership number) provided must be correct or the points transfer may be rejected. CommBank Awards will try to contact the member to resolve any rejections as member assistance may be required when liaising with the frequent traveller program.

Qantas Frequent Flyer Direct

Qantas Frequent Flyer

  1. You must be opted into Qantas Frequent Flyer Direct to earn Qantas Points.
  2. To opt into Qantas Frequent Flyer Direct, visit the Awards website Redeem Travel page or call 13 1661.
  3. There is a $30 annual fee for opting in.
  4. You must be a Qantas Frequent Flyer member to earn and redeem Qantas Points. A joining fee may apply.
  5. Membership and Qantas Points are subject to the terms and conditions of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, available at qantas.com/terms.
  6. Once CommBank Awards points have been redeemed for Qantas Points, they are governed by the terms and conditions of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program and cannot be converted back to CommBank Awards points or redeemed under the CommBank Awards Program.
  7. It is important to note that any CommBank Awards points earned prior to the date of your opt-in cannot be transferred to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.

Velocity Frequent Flyer

  1. Individuals must be a CommBank Awards cardholder. To redeem CommBank Awards points for Velocity Points, individuals must be a Velocity Member. Membership of Velocity is the cardholder’s responsibility and is subject to the Velocity Membership Terms & Conditions as amended from time to time, available at Velocity website. The redemption of CommBank Awards points will be administered solely by CommBank Awards and will take up to 3 business days to transfer into the Velocity Membership Account. Membership of CommBank Awards is subject to the CommBank Awards Program Terms and Conditions.
  2. When converting CommBank Awards Points to Velocity Points, members must convert in increments of 2 Awards points in order to convert to whole Velocity Points.
  3. Points can only be transferred to a Velocity Account in the same name as the primary cardholder of the CommBank Awards account.
  4. Points transferred to Velocity, Velocity Points earn and redemption and membership of Velocity is subject to the Velocity Membership Terms and Conditions, as amended from time to time.
  5. Subject to Condition 1, members can redeem their CommBank Awards points to Velocity Points at a conversion rate of 2 CommBank Awards points to 1 Velocity Point.
  6. To earn and redeem Velocity Points, you must be a Velocity member.  All Velocity Points redemptions with Velocity Frequent Flyer are subject to availability, which may be limited and subject to Velocity Membership Terms & Conditions. All Awards are subject to availability and are subject to change without notification. Once CommBank Awards points have been redeemed for Velocity Points, they are governed by the Velocity Membership Terms & Conditions and cannot be reversed. Credit card reward programs hold no responsibility for flight availability, which may be limited. This is at the sole discretion of the Velocity Airline Partner.
  7. Commonwealth Bank of Australia ABN 48 123 123 124 and Australian credit licence 234945 is the issuer of CommBank Awards cards.
  8. The Velocity Membership Terms and Conditions apply once points are transferred to Velocity. 

Supplier Terms and conditions

Apple Pay

  1. Redemption of Awards points using your credit card via Apple Pay is unavailable in-store at Myer and Flight Centre stores Australia-wide and for Flight Centre online via the Awards website. Customers must use their Awards credit card to pay with points at Myer and Flight Centre.

Bonus Points eShop

In these terms and conditions:

"We" or "us" means Commonwealth Bank of Australia, ABN 48 123 123 124, and where the context permits, includes Collinson.

"Collinson" means the operators of the Bonus Points eShop site on our behalf, Collinson Group Pty Ltd., ABN 24 121 054 724 and its UK parent, Collinson Latitude Ltd, Registered office: Cutlers Exchange, 123 Houndsditch London, EC3A 7BU UK. Registered no. 6708136. Registered in England and Wales.

The use of the CommBank Bonus Points eShop is subject to the following terms and conditions. By entering this website or registering as a member of the Bonus Points eShop you accept these terms and conditions.

  1. Membership
    • In the event that a Bonus Points eShop Account is dormant for a period exceeding 12 months we may terminate that Account.
    • The Bonus Points eShop is for the sole use of CommBank Awards cardholders and additional cardholders acting in their private capacity and is not for commercial purchases. If we suspect that an Account is being used other than for personal use (excluding permitted transactions made using a Business Awards card), we may terminate membership.
    • If we in our sole discretion suspect fraudulent or suspicious activity we may without notice place an Account on hold, suspend transactions and/or terminate membership.
  2. Earning Bonus Points
    • As a member of the CommBank Awards program, you will earn Bonus Points from retailers displayed on this Bonus Points eShop website, subject to the CommBank Awards Program Terms and conditions and these Bonus Points eShop terms and conditions. The number of Bonus Points earned per retailer may be changed at any time.
    • You must be logged on to the Bonus Points eShop and use the links to the participating retailers' sites to be eligible to earn Bonus Points. You cannot earn Bonus Points for purchases on a retailer's site that you make prior to logging on the Bonus Points eShop.
    • When you make a purchase on a retailer's site you enter into a contractual relationship with the retailer. The purchase of goods or services from participating retailers is subject to their terms and conditions of sale. If you have a complaint regarding the goods or services provided to you or regarding any delay or other delivery issue, you will need to take it up with the retailer. We make no warranty with regard to any products or services obtained by you from participating retailers and hereby expressly exclude all representations and warranties including those as to title, fitness for purpose, merchantability and/or satisfactory quality regarding goods and/or services obtained from participating retailers through the Bonus Points eShop.
    • You become eligible for Bonus Points when the participating retailer approves the purchase i.e. the retailer is satisfied the transaction is complete and you've received the goods. Depending on the retailer's returns policy a purchase will normally be approved within 30 days.
    • When you make a purchase in a foreign currency, the Bonus Points you earn for shopping via the Bonus Points eShop website will be calculated by Collinson based on the AUD equivalent of the purchase price, using an exchange rate set by Collinson at the time. The amount charged in AUD to your credit card may be different as the exchange rate used for that is set by the relevant credit card scheme (or sometimes the retailer) and the Awards points you would usually earn if you pay using your CommBank Awards card are calculated on this amount in accordance with the CommBank Awards Program Terms and conditions.
    • If the transaction results in a refund or is cancelled, no Bonus Points will be earned.
    • Where Bonus Points appear in your eShop transaction history or have been applied to your CommBank Awards account, but the transaction is later reversed by the participating retailer or cancelled by you, the Bonus Points will be reversed from your transaction history or account.
    • Bonus Points have no equivalent cash value except as set out in these terms and conditions and the CommBank Awards Program Terms and conditions.
    • Bonus Points may only be earned on the net value excluding GST, all other taxes, surcharges and any delivery costs.
  3. Tracking
    • Transactions are electronically tracked and reported back by the participating retailer. Neither we nor Collinson are responsible if for any reason retailers are not correctly reporting sales to us or reporting back at all. We will, however, use reasonable efforts to ensure correct reporting by participating retailers. However we do not accept liability if retailers fail to do so.
    • All participating retailers' transactions are tracked through the use of cookies. You must ensure that cookies are enabled with your browser and ensure that any security software on your computer does not block cookies.
  4. Website changes and modifications to Terms and conditions
    • The content of the Bonus Points eShop website and these Terms and conditions are subject to change at any time. Material changes are will be notified through the CommBank Awards website. When changes are made, we will make a new copy of these terms available on this website. We would advise you to make regular visits even if you are not intending to make a purchase.
  5. Copyright
    • This Website is protected by copyright. The software is exclusive property of Collinson and we retain all rights, title and interest in and to the software throughout the world, including any modifications to and improvements to it.
  6. Third party websites
    • We are not responsible for the content or availability of any of the third party websites that link from this Website.
  7. Use of the Bonus Points eShop Website

    Neither we nor Collinson can be held responsible for any failure:
    • of this Website; or
    • in the system of communication between you and us, of whatever type or for whatever cause, which is beyond our reasonable control.
    • We cannot be held responsible for any unauthorised dealings with your Account of any kind.
    • Reasonable efforts are made to ensure that material is virus-free before being placed on this Website. However, in the unlikely event of any loss, disruption or damage caused by a computer virus, we cannot be held responsible for any loss, disruption or damage to your data or computer system that may occur whilst using material derived from this Website.
  8. Website browser availability
    • Please note as of 31 March 2021, the Awards eShop will not support the Internet Explorer (IE). To access the Awards eShop please use another browser.  If you need futher assistance please contact CommBank Awards on 13 1661 between 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday (Sydney/Melbourne time). 

Adairs Gift Cards

  1. Treat this Gift Card like cash. Defaced, mutilated, altered, lost or stolen cards will not be replaced, refunded or redeemed.
  2. This Gift Card is redeemable for merchandise at Adairs, Adairs Homemaker, Adairs Outlet, Adairs Kids or Urban Home Republic stores only.
  3. Not redeemable for cash and cannot be used for payment of credit or retailer accounts.
  4. Unless otherwise stated on the Gift Card / Gift Cards redeemed from CommBank Awards are valid for a minimum of 12 months from the date they are redeemed. Gift Cards will be void and may not be redeemed after expiry date.
  5. Cannot be reloaded. Is partially redeemable. Cash will not be given for any unused balance. Unused balance on expiry of this card will not be refunded or credited.
  6. Purchases exceeding available balance require the difference to be paid by another method.
  7. We reserve the right to change any terms contained in these Terms of Use at any time.

BP Fuel Gift Cards

  1. This Gift Card is issued by and remains the property of BP Australia Pty Ltd ABN 53 004 085 616 (BP).
  2. By using this Gift Card you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. BP may from time to time amend or replace these terms and conditions. Any new or amended terms and conditions will available on the BP website bp.com.au and at participating BP outlets.
  3. The Gift Card has a stored value which may be used to purchase (or part pay) any goods or services at participating BP outlets which has an EFTPOS terminal, which is operational at the time of the transaction. BP does not warrant that the EFTPOS terminal will be operational at any particular participating BP outlet at any particular time.
  4. Only one Gift Card per transaction is allowed and it cannot be used for payment of credit or retailer accounts.
  5. Minimum purchase on the Card in a single transaction is $5.00.
  6. The Gift Card cannot be reloaded and is not redeemable for cash. No cash out facilities are available to the Gift Card.
  7. Treat this Gift Card like cash. Defaced, mutilated, altered, lost or stolen cards will not be replaced, refunded or redeemed.
  8. The Gift Card is not valid for use after the expiry date, which is printed on the Card. Any unused value on the Gift Card prior to or after expiry will not be refunded or credited.
  9. Unless otherwise stated on the Gift Card / Gift Cards redeemed from CommBank Awards are valid for a minimum of 12 months from the date they are redeemed.
  10. If your purchase(s) are greater than the balance remaining on the Gift Card, you will be liable for the payment in cash of any excess purchase amount.
  11. BP will refund the unused value on damaged Gift Cards, except where the amount of the refund is less than $5.00 or the card number and magnetic strip are unreadable. This refund will be the last balance shown by BP's records as remaining on the Gift Card, unless you are able to demonstrate that this is incorrect.
  12. BP (including its officers, employees, agents and representatives) are not liable for any loss, damage, or expenses arising in any way out of the use of this Gift Card, including but not limited to, any purchases made with the Gift Card, any loss you or anyone else incurs as a result of loss, theft or use of the Gift Card by any unauthorised party, or as a consequence of the Gift Card being unable to be used due to damage, a participating BP outlet refusing to supply goods or services to you or refusing to accept the Gift Card, a failure of any participating BP outlet to accept the Gift Card due to the fact that the EFTPOS terminal is not operational or by any failure in the EFTPOS terminal, which results in the Gift Card not being accepted at any time.

AmpolCash gift cards

  1. Each AmpolCash gift card entitles the Award Recipient to fuel, goods or services at any participating Caltex or Ampol service station in Australia with an EFTPOS terminal. AmpolCash gift cards can only be used electronically.   2. If the bill is more than the amount provided on the AmpolCash gift card, the Award Recipient must pay the difference. It is not possible to use another AmpolCash gift card to pay the balance.
  3. Unless otherwise stated on the Gift Card, Gift Cards redeemed from CommBank Awards are valid for up to 12 months from the date they are redeemed.

Any donation you make, together with your name and address, will be forwarded by the Bank to the specific charity within 3 months of the donation being made. The Bank does not receive any additional deductions as a result of payments to charities under the Program and there are no benefits in relation to such payments which the Bank can pass on to Members.   1. Coles Gift Card redeemable at Coles Supermarkets. This card cannot be redeemed at Coles Online or Coles Express stores.
  2. Gift Cards cannot be exchanged for cash.
  3. The Gift Card is partially redeemable and it is up to the card holder to use the full value of the card within the validity period.
  4. Any unused balance will not be refunded or credited when the Gift Card expires.
  5. Where the cost of the purchase exceeds the available card balance, the card holder will be required to make up the difference between the purchase price and the Gift Card balance.
  6. Unless otherwise stated on the Gift Card / Gift Cards redeemed from CommBank Awards are valid for a minimum of 12 months from the date they are redeemed.
  7. The store is not obliged to accept the use of a Gift Card on a sale of under $5.

Flight Centre Limited

  1. All travel bookings made through Flight Centre using CommBank Awards points or otherwise, are subject to Flight Centre's booking terms and conditions in addition to the CommBank Awards Program Terms and conditions.
  2. Flight Centre may be unable to make travel bookings on certain airlines, for certain travel operators and/or during certain periods.
  3. Members cannot redeem points at Flight Centre for cash, travellers' cheques, foreign currency or any other financial products or services.
  4. Members can redeem points for travel booked through any Flight Centre Limited retail store in Australia, including Flight Centre and Travel Associates retail stores; or over the phone. Members may also pay for travel using a combination of points and other payment method such as credit card or cash. Payments made using a Commonwealth Bank credit card will earn Awards points.
  5. Flight Centre booking, cancellation and amendment fees and all relevant terms and conditions apply. Credit card surcharges may apply when paying by credit card. The amount of these surcharges is determined by Flight Centre and is subject to change.
  6. Once a travel booking is made in a Flight Centre store or Flight Centre call centre, all amendments, cancellations, disputes and queries relating to that booking need to be referred directly to the store or call centre where the original booking was made. The Bank is not responsible for resolving any dispute, or for the dispute itself after a booking is made through Flight Centre Limited.
  7. Refunds for travel bookings originally paid for by credit card, will be credited to that credit card. Refunds for travel bookings originally paid for by payment methods other than credit card or CommBank Awards points redemption, will be refunded by direct deposit to the Member's nominated bank account. Refunds for travel bookings originally paid for by CommBank Awards points redemption, will be either held as credit to be used towards alternative travel arrangements with Flight Centre or be refunded as CommBank Awards points to the Member's Awards account, subject to agreement between Flight Centre and the Bank. All refunds will be subject to Flight Centre's standard booking terms and conditions which form the basis of a Member's contract with Flight Centre.
  8. Refunds will not be processed until Flight Centre receives the funds from the relevant supplier. Cancelled bookings will incur charges. These charges can be up to 100% of the cost of the booking, regardless of whether travel has commenced. Fees will also apply where a booking is changed or tickets are reissued. These fees will be notified at the time of change or reissue.
  9. All prices for travel offers provided by Flight Centre are subject to availability and can be withdrawn or varied without notice.

Flight Centre Physical & Digital Gift Cards

These terms apply to all Gift Cards and electronic vouchers issued by or on behalf of Flight Centre Travel Group ("FCTG") trading as "Flight Centre" or "Travel Associates" (each a "Gift Card"). By purchasing, redeeming or attempting to redeem a Gift Card, you agree to the following terms.

  1. Gift Cards are redeemable at participating FCTG retail stores located within Australia.
  2. Unless otherwise stated on the Gift Card, Gift Cards are valid for use within 12 months from the date of issue.
  3. Gift Cards purchased from 4 April 2018 will be issued with a PIN number. In order for a Gift Card to be redeemed, the customer must provide the associated unique PIN number at time of redemption. If a PIN number cannot be provided, the Gift Card will not be able to be redeemed.
  4. Gift Cards may only be applied up to the maximum value loaded onto the Gift Card which is unspent at the time of use. Where the cost of purchase exceeds the available balance of the Gift Card, the excess amount must be paid by another payment method.
  5. Gift Cards are non-refundable.
  6. Gift Cards may be redeemed in whole or part during the validity period. Where used in part, no change will be given. Any unused balance may be used against future purchases, but will not be refunded or credited when the Gift Card expires.
  7. Gift Cards cannot be reloaded.
  8. Gift Cards may not be redeemed or exchanged for cash, traveller's cheques, cash passports or any other form of currency.
  9. Gift Cards may not, without the prior written consent of FCTG, be resold or offered for resale at a premium (including via online auction or other unauthorised resale sites) or used for advertising, promotion or other commercial purposes (including competitions and trade promotions) or to enhance the demand for other goods or services. If a Gift Card is sold or used in breach of this condition, FCTG may in its absolute and sole discretion cancel or render invalid the Gift Card without a refund and the Gift Card holder may be refused redemption of the Gift Card. FCTG will take all reasonable steps to notify you of FCTG's intention to cancel or render invalid a Gift Card within a reasonable time before cancelling or rendering invalid the Gift Card.
  10. FCTG may cancel or render invalid any Gift Card (including any available balance) which FCTG determines in its absolute and sole discretion was purchased at any time and in any way (including via online auction or other unauthorised resale sites) by fraudulent means. FCTG may cancel any bookings made using any fraudulent Gift Card which may include any non-refundable amounts. FCTG will not be responsible for any costs incurred by you if you purchase or attempt to redeem any fraudulent Gift Card. You acknowledge and agree that you will not be entitled to redeem any available balance on any fraudulent Gift Card and that FCTG will not be obliged to hold such balance on file for you or otherwise redeem or exchange that Gift Card.
  11. You are responsible for the use and security of your Gift Card and PIN number. Lost or stolen Gift Cards may not be replaced or refunded. Lost or stolen PIN numbers cannot be reissued or replaced. You are liable for all transactions on your Gift Card except those caused by fraud or negligence by FCTG or its employees.
  12. Defaced, mutilated or altered Gift Cards may not be accepted, replaced or refunded.
  13. Gift Cards may not be used for payment of credit or retailer accounts.
  14. Personal information collected in relation to your Gift Card will be handled in accordance with FCTG's Privacy Policy which is available at flightcentre.com.au or in store.
  15. The laws of Queensland, Australia apply to these terms and conditions and any disputes arising in relation to them.
  16. Questions or problems relating to Gift Cards should be directed to FCTG's Gift Cards Care Team on 1300 554 268. Complaints about purchases made with a Gift Card should be resolved directly with the store concerned.

Freedom Gift Cards

  1. Gift Card is redeemable for purchases at freedom stores in Australia only.
  2. Gift Cards with a PIN can be redeemed online, however only three (3) Gift Cards can be redeemed per transaction.
  3. Gift Card is not redeemable for cash.
  4. No change will be given and any balance that remains on the card can only be used in whole or part against future purchases at freedom stores.
  5. It is up to the cardholder to use the full value of the card before the expiry date.
  6. Any unused balance will not be refunded or credited when the Gift Card expires.
  7. Where the cost of the purchases exceeds the available Gift Card balance, the cardholder will be required to make up the difference between the purchase price and the Gift Card balance.
  8. Gift Card is only valid after activation (which may take up to twenty four (24) hours), and will expire 12 months from the issue date, or, where an expiry date is written on the Gift Card by a freedom staff member at the time of card issue, will expire on the expiry date. If neither the issue nor expiry date (as applicable) is specified, the expiry date will be 12 months after the date of Gift Card activation.
  9. Gift Card cannot be replaced if lost, stolen or damaged.
  10. Gift Card cannot be redeemed for purchases made at freedom kitchens, freedom excess or freedom gift fund.

HOYTS Restricted Movie Voucher Super Saver

  1. This voucher must be exchanged or redeemed at the Box Office, Candy Bar, hoyts.com.au or the HOYTS app for your ticket.
  2. This voucher is redeemable for one (1) HOYTS LUX admission ticket:
    • for any mainstream session (except sessions on Saturday and Sunday from 2pm onwards and public holidays) at HOYTS cinemas.
    • for any DBOX, 3D and/or Xtremescreen movie session with an upgrade fee, which will be applied at time of redemption. 3D glasses must be purchased separately at an additional cost.
    • and is valid until the expiry date indicated and cannot be exchanged, extended or replaced.
  3. If redeemed at hoyts.com.au or the HOYTS app both the voucher number and PIN are required to be entered. Booking fees will apply.
  4. This voucher cannot be:
    • redeemed and/or upgraded to HOYTS LUX, HOYTS Daybed, special or group event sessions

  1. Vouchers will be exchangeable for goods and services in Village Cinemas, Greater Union and Birch Carroll & Coyle and Event Cinemas retail outlets to the value of the voucher.
  2. Unless otherwise stated on the movie voucher, vouchers redeemed from CommBank Awards are valid for a minimum of 6 months from the date they are redeemed.
  3. Vouchers are valid until the end of the expiry month indicated and cannot be exchanged, replaced or extended after this date. Vouchers are not returnable or redeemable for cash.
  4. Any residual value after use of the voucher by the bearer will be treated in the following manner:

Any damage observed after opening the parcel and examining the goods must be reported to the CommBank Awards team within 2 business days of delivery. If you receive damaged products, please ensure you keep any shipping boxes and documents until your request has been received and satisfactorily processed.
